SOLDIERS RETURN, BUT ONLY HALF

I see them cry, I see them laugh
Soldiers return, but only half.

Eyes filled with joy, eyes with a tear
They served us well, and reward is near

Some lie in peace, some lie in pain
If only war stopped, our world would be sane.

Our country is safe, our country is free
Our world is not, but we want it to be.

I pray for the world, and for the deceased
We should all pray to God, for much greater peace.

Bombs explode, then guns fire,
Politicians don’t care, that’s not what we admire.

We wear our poppy, to show we remember,
The ones who fought our wars, we recognize in November.
