107 MU KASFAREET - 1963-54
As Remembered By William John Hart
This photo album has been
gifted to The Canal Zoners by Dave Lewis,
son of the late William J. Lewis, who sadly died in December 1997
William did his Basic
Training at No. 8 School of Technical Training at Weeton in May 1953 before
being posted to 107 MU Kasfareet, where he was a general fitter employed on
supervisory duties dealing with the operation and servicing of a compressed
gas plant. Like many at Kasfareet, he enjoyed sport and was part of the Cricket
Team, and supported the Scramble Team and helped win a cup for his dart skills.
Time off was spent at the Bitter Lakes and he obviously enjoyed a day out
at Port Said. Recognise William or yourself in any of photos, then get in
touch, his son would love to know more about his Dad’s time in Kasfareet.
Like so many, he failed to write names on the back of the photos, and the
only names given are “Squirt” and “Jock”. Can you
add any more names?
