The bombs and ammunition were take by lorry out into the desert where they were prepared for detonation and then blown up.

In January 1954, I recall over 2000 bombs being taken by barge and loaded onto the 'Evan Gibb' for dumpig in the Red Sea.

there were the road block guards

 

and more guards in the rain this time!
