"DEATH OF OUR BELOVED KING"

His Majesty King George the Sixth passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Sandringham home in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Princess Margaret and other members of the
Royal Family were staying there. News of the death of the King was telegraphed
to Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip who were staying at the Shooting Lodge at Nyeri, Kenya, before embarking in the “Gothic” for the remainder of their Commonwealth tour. (Of course, the tour was cut short and they returned by air)

THE MEMORIAL SERVICE OF KING GEORGE V1

“The King Is Dead – Long Live The Queen"

Then shall be said the Bidding:

Brethren, we are met together in the presence of Almighty God to lay before Him our sorrow at the passing of our beloved King. We are met to thank Him for a life so fully given in the service of his peoples; and for a faith and courage so triumphant in days of war and in times of personal suffering.

So let us humbly keep silence before God
