LAST FLIGHT TO CYPRUS?

This photo was taken whilst on Leave at Golden Sands Holiday camp, Famagusta, Cyprus in 1955. I think it was taken on a cycle ride to Larnaca.

I am on the extreme left and I think that on the extreme right is fellow Canal Zoner,
Maurice Whittaker (I’d like to think this is correct). On his left is, I believe, Johnny Mills
but I cannot recall the name of the other man, though we all worked at GHQ Fayid.

It was touch and go as to whether I would manage to fly to Cyprus on holiday. There had been bombs thrown overnight on the day I was due to fly. We were held up and delayed at the Airport until it was decided that the flight could go. I believe that it was the last flight for holidays in Cyprus because they were stopped after that. Perhaps someone can recall if that was the case.
